Smile Thai delegation explores investment opportunities in Rajasthan

Thailand Board of Investment's (BOI) high-powered delegation is on a visit to Rajasthan to explore investment opportunities here. It made a presentation on Thursday at the Udyog Bhawan inviting investment in Thailand and also dwelled on areas of possible collaboration. The delegation met the Principal Secretary, Industries, Sunil Arora, Commissioner Investment & NRI, Dr. Purushottam Agarwal, Additional Director, Investment & NRI, Vinod Ajmera for the purpose.

Sunil Arora said, "Rajasthan is fast becoming a preferred destination for investment as 40% of the Delhi Mumbai Industrial Corridor (DMIC) passes through here. It has become the world's most preferred destination for solar energy projects, many of which are being set up at Jodhpur, Barmer, Bikaner and Jalore."

Dr. Purushottam Agarwal said hospitality, spa, gems and jewellery and design are the areas where a consensus is possible. Continuous dialogue can help investment in these sectors.

Dr. Bonggot Anuroj, executive director, Thailand BOI, had earlier made a presentation on 'Thailand-India Investment Cooperation'. She outlined the role of liberal investment policy in the country, with no foreign equity restrictions on manufacturing sectors or on foreign currency remittances and a possibility of 100% foreign ownership.
